JD Scarbrough Returns to Sandhills Bogeys for Summer 2026 Season

Pinehurst , NC — The Sandhills Bogeys are proud to announce the return of JD Scarbrough for the 2026 summer season.

Scarbrough, a current standout at UNC Pembroke and a Pinecrest High School graduate, will be back in Bogeys green for his second season with the club. Scarbrough made an impact during his first stint with the Bogeys, emerging as one of the top offensive players in the Old North State League. In the 2025 season, he posted a .321 batting average, launched six home runs, drove in 27 RBIs, and stole 11 bases, showcasing a well-rounded skill set that contributed to the team’s success throughout the summer.

His performance earned him second place in Old North State League MVP voting, cementing his status as one of the league’s premier players and a fan favorite in the Sandhills.

Scarbrough said returning to the Bogeys was an easy decision.

“I love playing close to home,” Scarbrough said. “My parents are able to come to every game, and that means a lot to me.”

Scarbrough also credited the Bogeys’ coaching staff for helping him prepare for the upcoming summer.

“Coach Fox is great,” he said. “He knows exactly what I need to work on this summer, and I’m excited to keep getting better.”

Team chemistry was another key factor in his return.

“My teammates are from all over the country, and about 20 guys are coming back from last year,” Scarbrough added. “They’re great guys, and it makes the whole experience even better.”

Head Coach Andy Fox said Scarbrough’s return gives the Bogeys one of the league’s most complete players.

“JD is a special talent,” Fox said. “He’s truly a five-tool kid, a great person and he’s going to be a lot of fun to watch in his second season”
