Sandhills Bogeys Name Josh Zambito Assistant Coach
Pinehurst, N.C. — The Sandhills Bogeys announced today that former Bogeys catcher Josh Zambito has been named assistant coach, marking the first coaching position of his career.
Zambito, 23, spent the past two seasons with the Bogeys as a catcher and quickly became a fan favorite for his grit, leadership, and blue-collar “lunchpail” work ethic. Known affectionately as “Bito” around the ballpark, Zambito now transitions from behind the plate to the coaching staff as he begins the next chapter of his baseball journey.
A graduate of Point Park University, Zambito also brings a strong prior connection to Bogeys Head Coach Andy Fox, having played for Fox previously at St. Andrews University. Fox expressed confidence in the move, citing Zambito’s baseball IQ, work ethic, and ability to connect with players.
“Josh has always had a feel for the game and a presence in the clubhouse,” Fox said. “He’s a competitor, a leader, and someone our players already respect. I’m excited to see him grow in this role.”
Zambito has made it clear that coaching is not just a short-term opportunity, but a long-term goal. He aspires to become a head coach one day and credits Fox as a major influence in his development.
“Coach Fox has always been a mentor to me,” Zambito said. “He’s helped me grow not just as a player, but as a person. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from him again and to continue being part of the Bogeys organization.”
The Bogeys open their home schedule on May 21, kicking off the 2026 season in front of their hometown fans.
